Green anise is part of the same family as fennel and cumin and, like them, has a significant presence of essential oil characterized by anethole. Anise fruits are carminative and expectorant. Having a pleasant flavour, anise often becomes part of digestive mixtures or those that help the well-being of the respiratory tract as a flavor corrector.
