THE PRODUCT AND ITS STORY
A large shrub or small tree, up to 7 m tall, with bushy foliage and papery bark, belonging to the Myrtaceae family. The glabrous and linear leaves are distributed in a spiral, are 10-35 mm long and about 1 mm wide. The leaves have oil glands rich in aromatic oil. The leaves are borne on a petiole about 1 mm long. The inflorescences are spikes with many flowers, 3-5 cm long. The white flowers are solitary, and have 2-3 mm long petals. The fruits are usually spaced between the branches.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Dominated by terpinen-4-ol (40%), gamma-terpinene (20%), alpha-terpinene (10%), terpinolene (3.5%), 1,8-cineole (3%).
HOW AND WHEN TO USE IT
Mainly used as a broad-spectrum antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic, anti-dandruff.
CAUTIONS
Low risk of skin sensitization, especially if the oil is old or oxidized. Oxidized oils should not be used. Non-oxidized oils can be used on the skin up to 15%
