Hydroalcoholic Solutions: with this definition we refer to the line of tinctures (obtained from dry plants in a 1:5 ratio) and mother tinctures (made with fresh plants in a 1:10 ratio). In our catalog we offer 84 references under this heading. Among these, 17 are from dry plants and 67 from fresh plants. Let's look at its main features:
1. Among the fresh plant solutions, 31 come from spontaneous harvesting and 36 from organic cultivation. We prefer to work as much as possible with the fresh product because it guarantees the presence of all the active ingredients and because in this way we also use the water contained in it (on average 700/800 grams per kilo of plant).
2. We macerate the plants very quickly (in 95% of cases this happens within 8 hours of harvesting). In this way we avoid the degradation of the active ingredients (because the maceration begins before the degradation processes at the metabolic level are activated).
3. The hydro-alcoholic solvent is of fundamental importance for two reasons: by denaturing the enzymes, it prevents the degradation of the active ingredients; furthermore, the water-alcohol solvent is able to extract the complete range of active ingredients of the plants and preserve them over time. If you observe the alcohol content of hydroalcoholic solutions, you will notice that they all fall into six product groups: 45°, 50°, 55°, 60°, 65°, 70°.
It is interesting to know what is extracted in the different alcoholic strengths:
65° - 70° mainly alkaloids and essential oils are extracted.
50° - 60° extracts the great majority of the active ingredients flavonoids, anthocyanins, saponins, tannins, etc.
45° partly saponins, mucilages and very polar glycosides.
